Uttar Pradesh IPS officer’s 94-year-old mother found murdered at home, jewellery missing

A serving IPS officer's 94-year-old mother was discovered murdered in her home in Uttar Pradesh's Ambedkar Nagar district on Sunday, with police suspecting robbery as the motive due to the missing jewelry. The victim, Indravati, was found dead with a cloth in her mouth and injuries on her body. The incident was reported around 9 am by a domestic worker who opened the locked door and found Indravati unresponsive on a cot in the veranda.

Her son, IPS officer Ashutosh Mishra, rushed to the village after being informed. Upon arrival, Mishra learned from his uncle that his mother had reportedly suffered a heart attack, but the body examination revealed the truth. Multiple pieces of jewelry, including a gold chain, tulsi necklace with gold beads, nose pin, earrings, and anklets, were missing.

Blood was visible around her mouth, and two injury marks were found on her lips. Mishra stated that the circumstances indicated a forced killing, with the assailants taking the jewelry. Police are investigating the murder and robbery, aiming to identify the perpetrators.
