Ghana and Netherlands sign pact to combat illicit drugs and drug markets

Ghana and the Netherlands have reached a new agreement to tackle illicit drugs and their associated criminal networks, according to Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. The pact, signed during the Dutch minister's official visit, enhances joint efforts to dismantle drug markets and protect communities. The agreement builds upon the Accra Call to Action, aiming to lead globally in combating the rising threat of illicit drugs.

Ablakwa emphasized that stronger international cooperation would help stop the flow of cocaine, synthetic drugs, and illicit proceeds between the two nations. He highlighted the significance of the agreement in preserving public health, upholding the rule of law, and securing a safer future for young people. Minister Van Weel of the Netherlands expressed his commitment to deepening cooperation between Ghana and the Netherlands in this fight.
