Ukraine launches one of its largest aerial attacks

On Sunday, Ukraine executed one of its most extensive aerial assaults on Russia, resulting in the deaths of at least six individuals and causing significant damage. According to Russia's Ministry of Defense, 822 Ukrainian drones were destroyed in the attack. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that around 600 drones were heading towards the Russian capital.

An 83-year-old man was killed when a Ukrainian drone struck a private residence in the Moscow region, as confirmed by local Governor Andrey Vorobyov. The attack also caused a fire at a Wildberries warehouse in Podolsk, with smoke columns visible in images shared by Russian media.

The assault extended to Russia's southwestern Rostov region, where five people lost their lives. The attack involved over 150 drones and damaged residences, a railway station, and ignited a forest fire. This marks one of the largest drone attacks by Ukraine during the ongoing war. Ukrainian forces have escalated their attacks this year, targeting military installations and energy facilities with long-range missiles and drone swarms.

In addition, they have increasingly focused on striking Wildberries distribution centers, destroying billions of dollars worth of merchandise and bringing the conflict closer to the Russian public.

Russian military actions did not go unscathed either. A missile strike on Ukraine's Kryvyi Rih claimed two lives and injured 14 others, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Another civilian was reportedly killed in Sumy. The Russian attack on Kyiv resulted in fires and injuries to six people. As Russian forces continue to strike civilian infrastructure with ballistic missiles, Zelenskyy emphasized that the Kremlin aims to target crucial civilian facilities wherever possible.

Since the morning, air raid alerts have persisted in various regions as the Russians launch another wave of drone strikes.
