UAE motorists offered four-point reduction for accident-free driving

UAE motorists can register starting August 17 for a new annual road-safety program that forgives four traffic points for those who commit to following traffic laws and meet the initiative's conditions. The "Day Without Accidents" campaign by Dubai's Ministry of Interior begins on August 31, just as the new school year starts. Organized by the Federal Traffic Council with local police, this initiative aims to encourage safer driving as roads near schools become busier.

Brigadier Jumaa Salem Bin Suwaidan, Dubai Police's General Department of Traffic director, explained that participants must register online via the MOIUAE social media account, sign the campaign pledge, and adhere to its requirements. Those who qualify will have four points removed from their driving record. The program seeks to reward drivers who avoid traffic violations and practice safer habits.

It specifically targets the first day of school, a period when traffic around schools usually spikes. The campaign urges motorists to drive cautiously, respect speed limits near schools, and pay extra attention to children, pedestrians, and other road users. Important safety tips include ensuring vehicles are in good condition, refraining from mobile-phone use while driving, staying in the correct lane, keeping a safe distance from other cars, and giving pedestrians right-of-way.

Previous editions of the campaign have shown increasing awareness among road users, and Brigadier bin Suwaidan urged motorists to use August 31 as a model for responsible driving. He emphasized turning the campaign's habits into everyday behavior rather than just an accident-free day.
