Sunyani Female Prison trains inmates in vocational skills

Ten female inmates at the Sunyani Female Prison have successfully completed a three-week vocational training program aimed at equipping them with practical skills for rehabilitation and future reintegration into society. Organized jointly by Ruby Bakehouse and Bliss and Glams, the program focused on teaching skills that could help the inmates find employment opportunities upon their release.

During the training, Ruby Bakehouse provided instruction in pastry making, including the preparation of chips, ring doughnuts, and other baked and fried goods. In addition, Bliss and Glams facilitated training in hair and wig making, covering techniques such as fixing frontals and creating ponytails. The hands-on nature of the program allowed the participants to gain practical experience in these areas, with facilitators emphasizing skills that could be utilized to generate income outside of prison walls.

Upon learning of the inmates' completion of the program, the Officer in Charge of the Sunyani Female Prison expressed gratitude to Ruby Mahama of Ruby Bakehouse and Dorcas Mensah of Bliss and Glams for their support of the Ghana Prisons Service's rehabilitation efforts. Both facilitators emphasized that this initiative is part of a larger strategy to equip inmates with employable skills, ultimately improving their prospects of becoming economically independent after serving their sentences.

The training is anticipated to provide the participants with practical skills they can further develop after their release, enabling them to work towards successfully reintegrating into their communities.
