The Prosecutorial Reform Committee has looked into all cases in which President-elect Lee could have requested prosecutors to dismiss charges before taking office, amid controversy over whether the committee was laying the groundwork for such a move.

The National Investigation Commission for the Future of Prosecutorial Ethics (미래위) launched an investigation into abuse of power by prosecutors, focusing on 19 cases in total. Out of these, 7 cases involved President Yoon Suk-yeol, who was accused of involvement in some manner. President Yoon's involvement in 6 cases, where his direct influence is suspected, is being investigated for potential grounds to withdraw his petition for withdrawal of charges.

The request for withdrawal of charges is being considered by special prosecutors under the "Abuse of Power Special Investigation Law" proposal by the People Power Party. As a result, there is growing controversy about whether the investigation's findings could support the withdrawal of charges against President Yoon. Additionally, there is concern that the upcoming preliminary investigation might lead to a "lack of responsibility structure," as the truth-seeking units, the Future Commission, and the Prosecutor General could all influence the final decision on whether to withdraw charges.

This is especially problematic for ongoing investigations, as the findings from the truth-seeking unit and the Future Commission could potentially impact the outcome of these trials before they even begin.
