장동혁, 광복절 ‘올공’서 세 과시…국힘 의원들도 참석

On August 15, 2022, Gwangju Dong-hyuk, the National Power Party (국민의힘) representative, attended a rally held at the Seoul Olympic Park, located in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the eve of the 81st anniversary of Korea's independence. The event, dubbed "Protecting the Right to Choose," saw Dong-hyuk leading the charge to consolidate the party's grip on power.

Dong-hyuk showcased his three-point stance to demonstrate his strength and determination. Earlier, he donned a medal bearing the image of President Syngman Rhee, the founding father of the Republic of Korea, as he visited the Olympic Park rally site. Dong-hyuk took the microphone and delivered a speech, reciting President Rhee's address from August 15, 1948, when the provisional government of South Korea was established and the 3rd anniversary of Korea's independence was commemorated.

"Dedicated individuals sacrificed their lives to overthrow tyranny and establish democracy. Now, (President Lee Myung-bak) is bringing back the dictatorship and extending its reach," Dong-hyuk declared. He continued, "On this occasion of our gathering to reclaim our freedom and safeguard our right to choose, we must prevent the reign of this dictator."

Dong-hyuk also warned, "If one of our votes has been stolen, allowing the current president to change, where do we find the lost Republic of Korea?" While Dong-hyuk had been attending unofficial events on his own for some time, the Olympic Park rally marked a formal engagement by the party.

Other notable attendees included Park Chong-gyun, Choi Beom-su, Park Dae-chul, Jeong Hye-young, Yi In-sin, Park Seong-min, Kang Myeong-gu, Gwak Ja-guen, Seo Cheon-ho, Sin Dong-wook, Park Jun-tae, Jin Suk, Kim Min-jeon, Choi Bom-yun, Kim Da-seop, Jo Seung-hwan, and several current members of the National Assembly. Opposition Party leaders and officials were also present, including Opposition Party Secretary-General Kim Min-su and Deputy Party Secretary-General Jo Guang-han.
