Several Arab, Islamic countries condemn Israeli rejection of BoP's Gaza plan

Several Arab and Islamic nations, including the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, have united to strongly condemn Israel's rejection of the Gaza Board of Peace's (BoP) 15-point roadmap. In a joint statement released on Sunday, these countries accused Israel of obstructing efforts to end the war with Hamas and jeopardizing the conditions needed for enduring peace.

The primary concern was Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's rejection of the plan on August 9 during a cabinet meeting, stating that the IDF would not withdraw until Hamas is fully disarmed.

The BoP's plan, presented by its head Nickolay Mladenov in May, detailed a staged process of disarming Hamas and withdrawing IDF forces, contingent on progress verification. The joint statement emphasized that Hamas's acceptance of the plan is a "vital milestone" in the group's disarmament, a move Hamas has repeatedly rejected. The ministers urged the US to "enforce Israel's full compliance with the commitments and arrangements envisaged under the Comprehensive Plan," despite Netanyahu's stance.

They further asserted that Israel "bears direct and full responsibility for any consequences resulting from its continued rejection, obstruction, delay or non-compliance, including any resulting deterioration of the situation on the ground and disruption of ending the war in Gaza." The ministers stressed that the swift and complete implementation of the plan is urgent and necessary to ensure security and safety for the people of Gaza.
