Zuma embarks on a week-long courtesy visit to EC traditional kingdoms

Jacob Zuma, the leader of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party, has begun a week-long visit to traditional kingdoms in the Eastern Cape's OR Tambo district. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen ties with these councils and the party's national, provincial, and regional leadership.

Zuma kicked off the trip at a local church in Zimbane Valley, Mthatha, where he addressed the congregation and spoke about the challenges faced by black people. He emphasized that the party's primary goal is to ensure the well-being of impoverished communities and tackle issues like unemployment, especially among young people, free basic education, and crime. Zuma stated that the party refuses to let black people suffer because they are black and that there should be no black church suffering while helping its people.

Sibonelo Nomvalo, the party's secretary-general and MP, clarified that the visit is not about electioneering but aims to conscientize the Eastern Cape's people about the need for a political party that serves their interests. He urged political parties to stop viewing the Eastern Cape as underprivileged and to vote for parties that genuinely work for the people's welfare.

Nomvalo defended the recent change in leadership, stating that it was a well-considered decision based on the party's material conditions and the need for a new character at the right time.

Zuma is expected to continue his visit to the AmaMpondomise Kingdom in Qumbu the following day.
