Security forces kill 7 terrorists in IBO in Balochistan's Kharan: state media

In Kharan district of Balochistan, security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation (IBO) on Sunday, resulting in the death of seven terrorists, according to state media. The operation, part of Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3, took place in the Lajay area, where additional injuries were reported among the terrorists, reported Pakistan TV.

During the course of the operation, security sources disclosed that weapons, ammunition, two vehicles, and a motorcycle were recovered from the terrorist hideouts. On Saturday, security forces conducted another IBO in Shor Pard area of Khuzdar district, killing 10 terrorists and injuring many others. Moreover, at least 18 terrorists were killed in Balochistan’s Surab district, including eight who died in an accidental explosion, according to the military’s media affairs wing.

In recent weeks, Balochistan has witnessed numerous security operations amid ongoing security challenges in the region. The monthly security assessment released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) on July 31 highlighted a significant deterioration in Balochistan’s security situation in July compared to June.

The report revealed a staggering 241 percent increase in the overall death toll, rising from 109 in June to 372 in July. Security personnel deaths in Balochistan surged from six in June to 62 in July, marking a staggering 933 percent increase. Terrorist deaths climbed from 75 to 238, while civilian deaths jumped by 93 percent, from 28 to 54. Additionally, 18 members of peace committees were killed in the province.
