Saya akan terus berkhidmat untuk PKR, kata Nurul Izzah

Nurul Izzah Anwar has expressed her commitment to continue serving PKR, stating she will support efforts to strengthen institutions, maintain dignity, open opportunities, and build a fairer Malaysia. As the Deputy President of PKR, she affirmed her ongoing contribution to the party, even while taking a temporary break from her duties.

During a PKR Congress, she emphasized that social service must be part of the party's reform agenda, as proposed by PKR Youth Leader Kamil Munim the previous Friday. "Esteemed brothers and sisters, PKR will continue to fulfill this responsibility. I too will continue to fulfill this responsibility, but through a different channel," she said.

Nurul Izzah also expressed gratitude to PKR members who have stood by her during difficult times, especially following the imprisonment of her father, PKR President and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Last week, she announced her intention to relinquish the deputy presidency to make way for continued advocacy. Former PKR Parliamentarian from Permatang Pauh was elected to the position at the party's last selection.

However, PKR Communications Chief Fahmi Fadzil previously clarified that Nurul Izzah would only take a temporary break from her duties following a national PKR Congress. According to Fahmi, Nurul Izzah initially requested a full resignation, but party leadership decided she should only take time off. In her speech, Nurul Izzah also defended her father's increasing international activism, attributing criticisms to personal jealousy and urging those who cannot accept it to seek psychological help.

"You can criticize him; there's nothing wrong with that. I also criticize him. But if you slander him and cannot accept it merely because of jealousy, it's better to see a psychologist," she said.
