Saudi Arabia arrests 14,542 residency, border and labour law violators in a week

In a week-long campaign, Saudi security forces arrested 14,542 individuals for various law violations, according to the Ministry of Interior. These inspections took place from August 6 to 12 across the nation. The arrests were divided into three categories: 7,216 people were detained for residency violations, 3,843 for breaching border security laws, and 3,483 for labor law infractions.

Additionally, 1,457 people were apprehended attempting to cross the country's borders illegally, with 67% of these individuals being Ethiopian nationals, 32% Yemenis, and 1% of other nationalities.

An additional 19 people were apprehended leaving Saudi Arabia illegally. The ministry also reported that 22 individuals were arrested for allegedly aiding, sheltering, or employing violators or facilitating their actions. A total of 32,479 expatriates were undergoing procedures to enforce regulations. Of these, 18,818 were referred to their respective diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents, while 6,355 were directed to finalize their travel arrangements.

A total of 12,945 individuals were deported. The Interior Ministry warned that anyone who aids illegal entry into Saudi Arabia, transports or shelters violators, or assists them with services could face a maximum of 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SR1 million. Vehicles used for transporting violators and properties used to shelter them may also be confiscated.

The ministry encouraged the public to report violations by dialing 911 in Mecca, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and 999 or 996 in other parts of the Kingdom.
