Rams PFF grades: Best and worst performers in win vs. Chiefs

On Saturday, the Los Angeles Rams defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 20-12, marking their season-opening win. Led by rookie quarterback Ty Simpson, the Rams' defense shined, allowing zero touchdowns throughout the game. Pro Football Focus (PFF) graded every player involved in the Rams' victory, ranking them by their performance on offense and defense.

For the offense, Los Angeles Rams Linebacker Austin Blaske took the top spot with an 80.9 grade. Wide Receiver Brennan Presley followed closely with a 79.6 grade, while quarterback Ty Simpson earned a 78.1 grade. Guard Beaux Limmer ranked fourth with a 74.4 grade, and Tight End Mark Redman secured the fifth spot with a 73.9 grade.

Blaske allowed only one pressure and had a team-best run-blocking grade of 80.3. Presley excelled by catching all four targets for 58 yards, while Simpson completed 190 yards on 21-of-25 passes without any significant throws. Limmer had the second-best pass-blocking grade and didn't allow a single pressure. Mark Redman caught all three of his targets for 47 yards but had a 58.7 run-blocking grade.

The top five performers on defense for the Rams were cornerback Zech McPhearson, with an 80.7 grade, followed by cornerback Cam Lampkin at 68.2. Safety Alex Cook had a 64.5 grade, defensive tackle Ty Hamilton was graded at 64.4, and cornerback Al zillion Hamilton rounded out the top five with a 63.9 grade. McPhearson made one tackle and allowed zero receptions on just one target.

Lampkin was targeted three times, allowing three catches for 30 yards, and Cook recorded four tackles with no misses and one pressure. Hamilton had one pressure and a stop but made one poor angle on a screen pass.

On the other end of the spectrum, the bottom five offensive performers for the Rams included wide receiver CJ Daniels with a 57.3 grade, wide receiver Tru Edwards at 56.2, cornerback Al zillion Hamilton at 63.9, center Blake Hance with a 45.7 grade, and quarterback Stetson Bennett at 40.5. Daniels and Edwards both struggled, with Daniels only catching two passes for 18 yards and Edwards being blanked.

Center Dylan McMahon had a 51.5 grade and didn't allow any pressures or sacks. Linebacker Tanner Ingle ranked last with a 39.4 grade, missing one tackle and allowing two catches on two targets. Defensive tackle Tim Keenan III had a 36.5 grade, registering one sack and five tackles, but also one missed tackle. Linebacker Monty Rice and defensive lineman Larrell Murchison both had 35.4 grades, with Murchison failing to make any tackles or pressures in 22 snaps played.

Defensive tackle Jaxson Moi had a 33.2 grade, with his performance hampered by a 33.9 run-defense grade.
