‘Probably my last year’ – Ronaldo hints at retirement

Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that his glittering 25-year career may soon come to an end. The 41-year-old married his partner Georgina Rodriguez on Tuesday, signaling a potential shift in his focus towards family life. Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner and five-time Champions League champion, has claimed his next chapter will be centered around his family.

Throughout his illustrious career, Ronaldo has triumphed with clubs in England, Spain, Italy, and Saudi Arabia, and holds the record for the most goals in men's international football. Currently at Saudi Pro League champions Al-Nassr, Ronaldo has one year left on his contract. In an interview with Vogue, Ronaldo stated, "This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy."

He emphasized that he has a plethora of interests and activities to keep him occupied post-retirement, including family, travel, and hobbies like padel. Ronaldo is 24 goals away from scoring 1,000 senior career goals. While Messi recently expressed uncertainty about his future, Ronaldo remains uncertain about his own decision, planning to make a choice with his family's input.

Notably, Ronaldo and Messi had very different World Cup experiences, with Messi leading Argentina to the final while Ronaldo's Portugal was eliminated in the round of 16.
