'Probably my last year' - Ronaldo hints at retirement

Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to retire after this season, the 41-year-old football star has hinted. The married man, who tied the knot with Georgina Rodriguez on Tuesday, is now focusing on family-oriented pursuits. A five-time Ballon d'Or winner and five-time Champions League champion, Ronaldo boasts a remarkable career tally, including league titles across England, Spain, Italy, and Saudi Arabia.

He is the all-time top goalscorer in men's international football. Currently, Ronaldo finds himself one year away from his contract with Saudi Pro League champions Al-Nassr. In an interview with Vogue, Ronaldo shared his thoughts on his impending retirement, stating, "This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy."

He added, "I have my future all mapped out. I have so many things to keep me busy that to tell you just one thing is hard. Because football could leave a big hole, you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one." The athlete is determined to enjoy his newfound leisure time, expressing a desire to "have more fun, travel more, watch and play padel, which I really like, and continue to enjoy what we've earned."

Ronaldo is 24 goals away from reaching the 1,000-goal milestone in his senior career. Comparing his World Cup campaigns with his rival Lionel Messi's, who won the prestigious Ballon d'Or for the record eighth time recently, Ronaldo noted that his Portugal team exited at the round of 16, while Messi led Argentina to the final. Ronaldo mentioned that he would decide about his final World Cup, should it be his last, after discussing the matter calmly with his family.
