Prithviraj says Khalifa ‘not an out-and-out actioner,’ shares major update on Mohanlal’s role

Director Vysakh's upcoming film Khalifa is generating excitement among fans of Prithviraj Sukumaran and Mohanlal, who reunite after L2: Empuraan (2025). At a recent pre-release event in Dubai, Prithviraj clarified that Khalifa will not be an action-heavy movie but a drama centered around family emotions with a few action sequences interspersed.

He emphasized, "Don't expect an out-and-out action film." Despite the presence of action scenes, Prithviraj assured that the movie is fundamentally driven by drama and family emotions. He expressed hope that viewers will enjoy the film with their families during the Onam season, when it premieres on August 20. Prithviraj also hinted at the possibility of a sequel, stating that Mohanlal's introduction in the film is merely an "intro" and that the actor's character, Mambarakkal Ahmed Ali, will be explored further in a potential Part 2.
