Police arrests 19-year-old in Virginia shooting case

Police have arrested a 19-year-old man, Camron Harris from Henrico, Virginia, in connection with a shooting at Virginia State University that injured five people on Saturday night. The wounded individuals, aged between 17 and 23, included one 20-year-old student who has since been released from the hospital. Harris was found hiding in a dormitory closet and eight felony warrants have been issued against him, including charges for malicious wounding and using a firearm in a felony.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and the university had initially stated they were seeking multiple suspects. The incident prompted a campus lockdown, but the threat to the campus community was deemed over by authorities, and the lockdown was lifted. Virginia State University, a historically Black institution, has about 5,700 students and is located in Ettrick, Virginia. The university's safety and well-being remained a top priority following the incident.
