#OsunDecides2026: APM candidate says determined voters defeated APC

Prince Laja Adeoye, the candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement in the Lagos State governorship race, has praised the voters of Osun State for their determination in the recent gubernatorial election. In a congratulatory statement to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Adeoye stated that the outcome of the poll sent a clear message to the ruling All Progressives Congress that a determined electorate cannot be defeated, despite the deployment of political power and resources.

Adeleke, who contested under the Accord Party, secured a second term, winning 511,067 votes against his closest rival Bola Oyebamiji of the APC, who garnered 444,815 votes. The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, came in third with 17,180 votes. Adeleke won 19 out of the state's 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji claimed 11.

Despite concerns over security and allegations of vote-buying and intimidation, Adeoye emphasized that the Osun electorate remained steadfast and voted for the leader they trusted. He urged voters in Lagos to follow the example set by Osun and use their ballots to influence governance in the upcoming 2027 general elections, offering a credible alternative to the APC.
