Osun poll result won’t hurt Tinubu’s re-election bid – Kalu

Former Abia State Governor and Senator for Abia North, Orji Kalu, has stated that Governor Ademola Adeleke's triumph in the Osun State gubernatorial poll does not pose any threat to President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid for 2027. Kalu extended his congratulations to Adeleke and expressed sympathy for the APC leadership, the party's gubernatorial candidate, and all supporters facing the results.

He emphasized that the election was a manifestation of democracy and an opportunity for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to fortify its structures and re-establish contact with the electorate prior to the 2027 general elections. In a statement released by his media office, Kalu reaffirmed that Tinubu's political prospects in Osun remained extremely promising.

He advised APC officials and backers not to be disheartened by the outcome, instead using it as a chance to review the party's strategies, strengthen grassroots organizations, and deepen interactions with voters and other stakeholders. Kalu congratulated President Bola Tinubu on Adeleke's re-election and expressed solidarity with the APC leadership, the party's gubernatorial candidate, and all supporters over the election result.

He underscored that elections are about the choices made by the people and that the party should emerge stronger. Kalu also commended Gboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Osun State Governor, for his contributions to the state's development. He urged APC members to maintain unity and focus. The senator argued that the APC's loss in the state does not inevitably mean a rejection of Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential elections.

He maintained that President Bola Tinubu could still garner widespread support in Osun, noting that political alliances and support for Tinubu could extend beyond APC members to other stakeholders and party supporters.
