Wanga, Wandayi call for peaceful politics as 2027 election race gathers pace

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi have called for unity and peaceful politics as Kenya prepares for the 2027 general election. She urged politicians to avoid narratives that create divisions and to focus on bringing the country together. Wandayi also called for restraint during political rallies and meetings, warning against activities that could provoke unrest. He highlighted President William Ruto's commitment to peace and a united Kenya. The call for unity came as political mobilization intensifies in the country in preparation for the 2027 polls, with rival political parties seeking to consolidate support in traditional strongholds.

Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili echoed the sentiment, urging Kenyans to view their fellow citizens as not political enemies but as part of the country's challenges. He specifically called on churches to continue praying for the country's peace.
