Aisha Jumwa: I only spoke with Duale when he confronted me over Joho-Ruto meeting

Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa has disputed Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale's account of their time working together in the government. According to Jumwa, the only time she spoke with Duale during their joint tenure was when she brought Hassan Joho to meet President William Ruto. Duale had claimed he regularly assisted Jumwa with Cabinet papers, but Jumwa said he hardly ever communicated with her.

The encounter between Joho and Ruto occurred after Joho was brought into Ruto's administration as part of a broad-based government in July 2024. Jumwa claimed Duale confronted her in a subsequent Cabinet meeting, accusing her of taking Joho to meet the President. She attempted to explain her decision but was told to leave. Duale has also criticized Jumwa for working with politicians outside Ruto's political camp and her recent association with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
