Obi, Saraki congratulate Adeleke on re-election

Nigerian presidential hopeful Peter Obi and former Senate President Bukola Saraki have both congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election. Adeleke secured victory in the state's recent gubernatorial election, with 511,067 votes, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The State Returning Officer, Prof Joshua Ogunwole, announced Adeleke's win on Sunday morning.

In a statement shared on his X account, Obi commended the Osun people for their democratic choice, stating that the election highlighted the power of the people to elect their leaders. He urged Nigerians to actively participate in the upcoming 2027 general elections and protect their votes. Saraki echoed similar sentiments, describing Adeleke's re-election as a vote of confidence in his leadership.

He also urged the governor to use his second term to build upon his achievements and justify the renewed mandate. Adeleke emerged as the winner over his main rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who received 444,815 votes.
