Nurul Izzah: I remain committed to same reform spirit since 1998

PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar has reiterated her commitment to the same reform spirit that ignited the movement since 1998, according to Sinar Harian. Despite her future responsibilities through a different route, her objectives remain unchanged — bolstering institutions, safeguarding dignity, and granting more opportunities to Malaysians.

Speaking at the 2026 PKR National Congress in Melaka, Nurul Izzah highlighted the significance of their shared history and the lessons learned from standing by fellow loyalists during the toughest times. She recalled her youth when she couldn't join Keadilan due to the Universities and University Colleges Act (AUKU) and emphasized that the struggle would involve various stakeholders within the democratic system, including voters and other power centers.

The PKR leader also addressed her recent restriction from writing political columns, stating that the media landscape has not changed much, and she still lacks control over media shareholdings. Nurul Izzah concluded her address by emphasizing her unwavering commitment to the reform process, promising to carry it forward with the same purpose she had since her early days in 1998.
