Majoriti perwakilan DAP lulus usul kekal dalam kerajaan perpaduan

The DAP's national congress concluded with a decisive vote to continue operating within the unity government until the end of its term, thereby dispelling speculation about the party's political objectives. The outcome was determined by a ballot held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) following a special motion presented by the party's Senior Deputy President, Loke Siew Fook.

In the vote, 1,857 delegates voted to retain DAP in the unity government, while 242 delegates voted to leave. A total of 4,264 delegates, out of 1,704 branches eligible to participate, attended the assembly. This result signifies that DAP's leaders and representatives will continue to hold key ministerial positions, deputy minister roles, and appointees within government-linked companies (GLCs).

Currently, DAP has five ministers in the Cabinet, namely Loke Siew Fook (Transportation), Nga Kor Ming (Housing and Local Government), Hannah Yeoh (Federal Territory), Gobind Singh Deo (Digital), and Steven Sim (Entrepreneurship and Cooperatives). The party also holds seven deputy ministers, including Lim Hui Ying (Women, Family and Community Development), Liew Chin Tong (Finance), M Kulasegaran (Law and Institutional Reform), Teo Nie Ching (Communications), Wong Kah Woh (Education), Chan Foong Hin (Agriculture and Food Security), and Mordi Bimol (Youth and Sports).

Following the session, Loke denied rumors of opposition during a press briefing after the congress, stating that our delegates represent the grassroots and attendance cannot be perfect - even in normal elections, nearly 70% attend. The number today exceeded half of the total delegates, marking the largest turnout in a DAP national assembly, he added.

Earlier, a majority of delegates' opinions indicated a strong desire to remain in the federal administration despite some dissatisfaction with performance in governance. They believed that withdrawing from the unity government under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim would only exacerbate the current situation.
