Loke call for higher e-invoice threshold, RON95 and diesel quota review

PUTRAJAYA: DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has advocated for elevated e-invoicing exemption thresholds and a reassessment of RON95 and diesel fuel allocations for Sabah and Sarawak. These suggestions emerged from appeals made by grassroots delegates, many of whom were small merchants and vendors. Addressing reporters at the DAP National Congress at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), Loke emphasized that the majority of the party's delegates represented the grassroots, rather than the upper echelons of leadership.

"Our delegates are not big names or big bosses. They come from the grassroots. They come directly from the branches at the grassroots level," he stated. He elaborated that the proposals brought forward by the delegates were directly tied to the daily expenses borne by common workers and small business owners. "All of these are matters that press upon people's lives and the cost of living, which we hope we can discuss and implement together," he concluded.

Loke expressed confidence that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim comprehends the public's concerns about the rising cost of living. Prior to the congress, DAP national organising secretary Datuk Chan Foong Hin had highlighted the discontent among grassroots members concerning the stagnation of reforms. The government had earlier announced that the e-invoice exemption threshold would be raised from RM500,000 to RM1 million starting this year.

This change was welcomed by the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), as it would alleviate compliance burdens for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
