Iran offers US$30,000 bounty for killing, capturing US soldiers

Iranian army chief Amir Hatami announced on Sunday that Iran is offering a bounty of US$30,000 for killing or capturing US soldiers, with double the reward for women. The plan was devised after receiving numerous requests for financial support, according to IRNA state news agency. There have been no known deployments of US ground forces in Iran during the ongoing Middle East war, apart from a rescue mission in April for a downed American pilot.

Hatami did not disclose the specific location or timing of the intended killings or captures. Anyone who successfully kills or captures an invading American military personnel will be rewarded with 5 billion tomans, equivalent to US$30,000, from Iran's Army. Women who undertake the action will receive double the reward. The conflict between Iran and the US escalated on February 28 when the US, along with Israel, launched an attack on Iran.

This was followed by a ceasefire in April after nearly 40 days of fighting, and a peace framework was established in June but eventually fell through. Since then, sporadic skirmishes have occurred, primarily in southern Iran and around the Strait of Hormuz.
