India’s Sindhu backs monkey measures as badminton worlds set to open

Indian badminton sensation PV Sindhu is optimistic about the upcoming world championships, slated to kick off in New Delhi on Monday at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. Sindhu expressed her satisfaction with the preparations made by organizers, assuring that the venue is comfortable and well-equipped. She debunked concerns about monkeys disrupting the matches, stating that 'monkey whisperers' or professionals who deter rhesus macaques by imitating langur calls, are on the job.

Sindhu, a four-time Olympic medalist, praised the organizers' efforts, saying, "They have put in all the efforts to make this happen." The champion, who recently won the Japan Open, is seeded ninth and faces Ireland's Sophia Noble in the opening round. Sindhu, a long-standing Indian badminton icon, reiterated her motivation and confidence, saying, "The hunger towards the game hasn't changed. I know it is in me and I can still do it."
