India’s Sindhu backs monkey measures as badminton worlds set to open

Indian badminton star PV Sindhu expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming world championships, which are set to commence in New Delhi on Monday at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. Sindhu, an Olympic silver and bronze medallist, is confident that the event will be a success despite concerns over marauding monkeys and bothersome birds.

To tackle the monkey issue, Sindhu praised the organizers for hiring special "monkey whisperers" who use the calls of larger langurs to deter rhesus macaques. Sindhu appreciated their efforts and acknowledged that the organizers have put in considerable work to ensure a smooth event.

The 2019 world champion revealed that the preparation and efforts of the organizers have made her feel that this will be one of the greatest world championships ever. Sindhu, who arrived at the tournament in top form after winning the Japan Open last month, stated that the victory in Japan provided her with a significant boost and confidence.

Sindhu, who is seeded ninth, faces Ireland's Sophia Noble in the first round of the world championships. She expressed her excitement about playing on home soil and being an Indian, adding that her motivation remains as strong as ever despite her decade-long career at the elite level.
