Improvements in targeted diesel subsidy scheme in ‘1 to 2 months’

Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan announced that several enhancements to the targeted diesel subsidy scheme will be revealed within the next one to two months. These improvements are expected to streamline the application process, broaden eligibility criteria, and enable the transfer of quotas to immediate family members.

Amir disclosed that preparations for the 2027 budget are being made to ensure a more efficient and comprehensive distribution of assistance to those in need under the targeted diesel subsidy program. This move aligns with the government's commitment to ensuring that every allocation has a tangible impact and helps alleviate the cost-of-living burden at the grassroots level.

During the budget engagement session, Amir stated that approximately 120,000 pickup truck and jeep owners in Sabah were identified as eligible for a diesel subsidy quota exceeding 300 liters. However, as of now, only around 49,000 eligible vehicle owners have registered and submitted their applications. The government is urging more eligible owners in Sabah to apply promptly, as the necessary facilities and application channels are already accessible.
