Sepang: The community and private sector must continue to support former National Anti-Drug Agency (Nada) clients as they rebuild their lives post-rehabilitation and aim to avoid relapse, according to Nada's director-general, Datuk Ruslin Jusoh. He pointed out that lack of post-rehabilitation support, such as job securing difficulties and social stigma, can negatively impact clients' confidence and integration into society.
Ruslin emphasized that vocational training at the Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Centre (Puspen), along with post-release support, could aid clients in regaining their confidence and footing. With a job and support from employers, families, and society, the stigma against them dwindles, giving them the confidence to move forward, Ruslin told Bernama and RTM after attending the 2026 New Life Inspiration Programme in Sepang.
The government incurs substantial costs annually to rehabilitate clients, but by helping them return to society as skilled workers, the country's aspiration to become a developed nation can be achieved, Ruslin added.
