Doktor rugi RM558,000 angkara pelaburan mata wang

Two victims experienced significant financial losses due to fraudulent investment opportunities in the first half of the year.

In Dungun, a 32-year-old female doctor suffered a loss of RM558,000 after engaging with suspected scammers via Instagram. The chief of Dungun Police, Nik Ab Halim Nik Mat, stated that the victim was approached due to an interest in trading and investment courses advertised online. She was then instructed to pay RM300 for a video detailing trading techniques and subsequently made 77 transactions across six accounts from January to August, totaling RM558,000.

The police were informed that the victim, upon realizing they were not receiving any returns on their investments, made a police report after being accused of wrongdoing and consequently informed of the scam.

Meanwhile, in Kuala Terengganu, a 60-year-old government-employed man lost RM92,781 to a syndicate offering nonexistent loan schemes on Facebook. The chief of Kuala Terengganu Police, Azli Mohd Noor, explained that the victim saw an attractive loan offer with low interest rates and applied for a RM10,000 personal loan in June. After engaging with the suspects through WhatsApp, they were asked to pay a processing fee.

The man made 86 payments to 28 accounts using his savings and loan from friends from June 14 to August 13. He also provided personal information, including a copy of his passport, utility bills, driving license, and bank account details, to secure the savings. The suspect allegedly threatened to take legal action if the victim did not make additional payments.

The victim reported the incident to the police on August 3. Both cases are being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
