DAP congress votes to stay in govt

The DAP congress took place at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, where delegates voted on whether the party should withdraw or remain in the government. Out of the 2,223 delegates who attended, representing 52.12% of those who had registered, 1,857 voted for the party to stay in the administration. This vote represents 88% of the total delegates.

The remaining 242 delegates called for the party to leave the government. DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook noted the high turnout, stating that this was a common occurrence even during elections. He also clarified that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is the president of Pakatan Harapan, had addressed the delegates' concerns regarding the party's cooperation with Umno and Barisan Nasional.

Loke emphasized that the Prime Minister wanted the government to remain stable, acknowledging the differences between the parties in the Madani government. DAP currently holds five ministerial positions and seven deputy minister roles in the Cabinet, demonstrating their continued presence in the administration.
