Dansby Swanson leaves the Cubs’ game against the Cardinals with an undisclosed injury

Chicago Cubs player Dansby Swanson exited a game against St. Louis on Sunday due to an undisclosed injury. The incident occurred after Swanson swung and missed on the opening pitch from Cardinals starter Hunter Dobbins during the third inning. The veteran shortstop, a two-time Gold Glove winner, exhibited signs of discomfort after the swing, stepping to the right of the batter's box and consulting with his manager, Craig Counsell, and training staff before heading to the dugout.

James Triantos took Swanson's place in the at-bat and ultimately walked. Swanson, 32 years old and in his 11th Major League season, had taken the day off on Saturday as part of a routine maintenance day. At the time of the incident, he was batting .216 with 18 home runs and 66 RBIs.
