Council of Senior Scholars holds 99th session in Taif under grand mufti

The Council of Senior Scholars convened its 99th session in Taif, Saudi Arabia, under the chairmanship of the Grand Mufti, Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Fawzan Al-Fawzan. The gathering focused on key topics referred by the royal and government authorities. In his opening remarks, the Grand Mufti emphasized the council's robust support from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, which has empowered the council to carry out its scientific and religious responsibilities, review the referred topics, and issue pertinent religious rulings.

The Grand Mufti further commended the security, stability, and prosperity in Saudi Arabia, as well as the honor of maintaining the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and sacred sites, enabling Muslims to perform their rituals with confidence and safety.

Sheikh Dr. Fahd bin Saad Al-Majed, the secretary-general of the Council of Senior Scholars, revealed that the session's agenda encompasses several significant matters submitted by royal authorities, government entities, and the Permanent Committee for Fatwas. He elaborated that preparations for the session commenced immediately following the conclusion of the previous one, with the formation of advisory committees consisting of council members and specialists to furnish expert opinions on the topics under review. These committees subsequently submit their reports to the council for deliberation.

During the 99th session, the Council of Senior Scholars will diligently examine the agenda items from both scholarly and religious viewpoints, striving to issue well-informed rulings and opinions in accordance with its mandate and responsibilities.
