Complaint seeks probe into alleged disruption of Vande Mataram at Thrissur Corporation in Kerala

A complaint has been filed with the Thrissur City Police Commissioner, requesting a probe into allegations of interference during the performance of Vande Mataram at the Thrissur Corporation's Independence Day festivities on August 15. The complainants claim that the singing of Vande Mataram was hindered and that disrespect was demonstrated towards the national song at the official event.

According to the complaint, eight Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-elected councillors commenced singing Vande Mataram after the Corporation's scheduled program did not incorporate its performance. The complaint alleges that the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Corporation Secretary, and several standing committee chairpersons exited the venue, and efforts were made to disrupt the singing via microphone announcements.

The complainants have requested an immediate investigation to ascertain the details of the incident, urging the police to gather and review video recordings, CCTV footage, photographs, and statements from witnesses.
