Borussia Dortmund pivot after El Mala exit: Greek talent set for medical

Borussia Dortmund has swiftly shifted its transfer focus following the collapse of their pursuit for Said El Mala. The German club has now set its sights on Greek talent Giannis Konstantelias, with the 23-year-old PAOK attacker on the verge of completing a medical examination in Dortmund. The move for Konstantelias marks a significant change in Borussia Dortmund's transfer strategy, as the club had failed to reach an agreement with 1. FC Köln over the guaranteed portion of the transfer fee for El Mala. BVB's initial offer was reportedly close to €50 million, whereas Köln insisted on a higher guaranteed payment. In response to this setback, Dortmund decided against pursuing El Mala further and swiftly began scouting for alternatives.

Konstantelias is an attractive prospect for Dortmund due to his versatility and unique skill set. The 18-year-old midfielder made his way to BVB from Genk earlier this month in a deal that valued him at around €30 million. Sources claim that Karetsas has been positively disposed towards his initial experiences in Dortmund, potentially swaying his compatriot to opt for the same move.
