Anwar announces extra RM1mil for every parliamentary constituency

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced an additional RM1 million allocation for each parliamentary constituency, emphasizing the need to prioritize assistance for the people, irrespective of their political affiliations. As the president of the People's Justice Party (PKR), Anwar rejected allegations that he was withholding development funds from opposition-led states, asserting that his aim is to alleviate the suffering of citizens due to political differences.

At the PKR national congress, Anwar announced the RM1 million direct payment to every parliamentary constituency, countering claims that his administration had marginalized Perikatan Nasional-led states. He acknowledged that Umno leaders had previously objected to the allocation of funds to Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, expressing disappointment from some within his own party.

Anwar admitted that these critics failed to recognize the benefits of cooperation at the state level. The prime minister emphasized his responsibility to aid the poor, stating that he cannot ignore the plight of communities devastated by floods year after year. He pledged to uphold justice for all, rather than favoring specific groups with development projects.
