Anwar announces extra RM1mil for every parliamentary constituency

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced a new initiative to allocate an additional RM1 million for each parliamentary constituency in Malaysia. The allocation aims to prioritize assistance for the people, irrespective of their political affiliations with the Prime Minister or state governments. This comes after the opposition leader rejected claims that he was withholding development funds from opposition-led states, stating that the people should not be suffering due to political differences.

At the PKR national congress, Anwar reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the needs of the poor. He acknowledged that many of his friends within Umno had criticized the decision to allocate funds to Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, despite witnessing cooperation at the state level. Anwar explained that while Umno leaders initially objected to the policy, they eventually recognized the benefits of the aid.

The Prime Minister emphasized his responsibility to help the people, particularly those affected by recurring natural disasters and environmental challenges. He stated that he could not remain silent as Prime Minister while witnessing the devastation caused by floods in these states. Anwar made the decision to provide aid, guided by the principle of upholding justice for all, rather than favoring specific interest groups or political parties.
