Anwar announces additional RM1m for every parliamentary constituency

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced an additional RM1 million allocation for every parliamentary constituency across the nation. The purpose of this extra funding is to address urgent needs and provide immediate assistance to the people, bypassing bureaucratic hurdles that may otherwise delay aid.

The Prime Minister stated that this allocation demonstrates the Madani Government's dedication to strengthening support for citizens at the grassroots level. This announcement was made during Anwar's winding-up speech at the 2026 PKR National Congress held at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC). The additional allocation complements existing social protection initiatives, such as the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), which together total RM16 billion.

Anwar emphasized that reducing poverty and alleviating the cost-of-living pressures are top priorities of the MADANI Government, with the hardcore poverty rate now at an impressive 0.09 per cent. He highlighted that translating macroeconomic success into tangible improvements at the microeconomic level is accomplished through programs that prioritize the welfare of the people.

Whether one belongs to the B40 or M40 group, assistance for school needs, Rahmah sales, and housing financing support is provided comprehensively, without excluding any community. Anwar also called upon party leaders and branches at the grassroots level to engage with the public, explaining the various government initiatives and ensuring that assistance reaches those who need it most.
