Adeleke’s victory a “resounding vote of confidence – NANS

The National Association of Nigerian Students, South-West Zone D, has praised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for his victory in the recent gubernatorial election, describing it as a "resounding vote of confidence." According to the association's coordinator Adeyemo Kayode, the outcome highlights the growing political power of students and young people in the state.

Adeleke won the election with 511,067 votes, defeating his closest rival Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 444,815 votes. The Independent National Electoral Commission confirmed Adeleke's victory.

NANS urged the governor to prioritize the welfare of students during his second term, citing institutions such as Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State University, and others where students participated in the election. NANS members had the opportunity to assess Adeleke's administration and acknowledged progress while also challenging shortcomings.

The association commended President Bola Tinubu, the INEC, the Nigeria Police Force, security agencies, election observers, civil society organizations, journalists, and other stakeholders involved in the election. However, NANS called on Adeleke to use his renewed mandate to implement a more comprehensive student-focused agenda, including increased investment in state-owned tertiary institutions, improved infrastructure, healthcare facilities, security, transportation, scholarships, and employment opportunities for graduates.

NANS emphasized that the students who cast their votes were doing so to build a better future for themselves and not merely for another electoral victory.
