2027 elections: Kebbi governor Idris picks running mate - Blueprint Newspapers Limited

The Kebbi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Augie as the gubernatorial running mate for Governor Nasir Idris in the upcoming 2027 election. This decision was made following professional legal advice regarding the eligibility of the incumbent Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida Arugungu, for the 2027 race.

The announcement was made by APC National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, during a visit to the governor at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi. Governor Nasir Idris dismissed any claims of disagreement with the outgoing deputy governor, assuring the public that he would work in collaboration with the new running mate and urging all stakeholders to remain united for the party's success in the 2027 election.

Ibrahim Muhammad Augie, a former Commissioner for Finance in Kebbi State under the administration of former Governor Atiku Bagudu, is hailing from Augie Local Government Area of the state.
