2 cops nabbed for allegedly taking bribes totalling RM14,000 from motorists

Two police officers, a constable and a patrol officer, have been arrested for allegedly accepting bribes totaling around RM14,000 from motorists who committed traffic offenses on the East Coast Expressway (LPT 2). The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) initiated an investigation into the matter, leading to the remand of the two suspects in Kuantan Magistrates' Court.

The constable, in his 30s, was apprehended on August 11 and subsequently remanded for five days until August 20, following a MACC application. Meanwhile, the patrol officer, also in his 30s, was arrested on August 11 and his remand has been extended by four days until August 19. Both suspects are believed to have conspired to commit the bribery between January and July 2026, with the suspect allegedly receiving the bribe money through fund transfer transactions into a third-party bank account. The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
