1,082 beds, 300 ICU beds, 15 major OTs: MCR TIMS Sanathnagar in Hyderabad set to transform Telangana’s public healthcare

The Marri Chenna Reddy Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (MCR TIMS) in Sanathnagar, Hyderabad, is poised to revolutionize the state's public healthcare system. This sprawling 53.30-acre facility, set to open its doors on August 17, 2026, boasts an impressive 1,082 beds, including 300 ICU beds, and will cater to a diverse range of medical specialties. With a value of ₹1,126 crore, the hospital is the largest tertiary-care government hospital constructed in Telangana since its formation in 2014.

The MCR TIMS Sanathnagar is designed as a Centre of Excellence for cardiac, renal, transplant, and trauma sciences. Upon completion, it will feature 350 outpatient beds, housing advanced facilities such as cath labs, general wards, diagnostic and intervention services, and an endoscopy and bronchoscopy suite. The inpatient block will house an additional 300 beds, while the trauma center will accommodate 15 major operating theatres and provide neuro critical-care services.

The inaugural phase of the project, which began in February 2023, has already progressed to 13.14% in terms of both physical and financial completion. The remaining work is expected to be finished within the stipulated time frame. With a workforce of 2,360 sanctioned posts, covering 28 departments across broad and super-specialities, the hospital aims to provide comprehensive medical services under one roof.

Beyond serving the local population of Hyderabad and Telangana, the MCR TIMS Sanathnagar will also function as a medical tourism hub, with dedicated facilities for international patients. The hospital has secured all necessary licenses and approvals, including Fire NOC, environmental clearance, drug and pharmacy approvals, clinical establishments approval, and blood bank NOC, ensuring its smooth operationalization.
