Syrian intelligence captures senior Daesh leader in latest crackdown

Syrian intelligence has apprehended a high-ranking Daesh official in a recent security initiative aimed at disrupting the terrorist group's operations within Syria, according to state-run news. Syrian General Intelligence has apprehended a senior Daesh figure in a fresh security operation targeting the group's activities on Syrian soil, reported the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The exact identity of the detained individual and his specific role within Daesh have not been disclosed by Syrian authorities. Moreover, the location of the operation and the circumstances surrounding the arrest have remained undisclosed. This move follows the ongoing efforts by Syrian security agencies to dismantle Daesh cells across different parts of the country, even as the group's territorial authority has significantly diminished since its peak.

In July, the Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with General Intelligence, announced the dismantling of multiple Daesh cells in the southern region and the arrest of Firas Al-Dagher, a leader involved in assassinations and financial operations within the organization.
