Independence Day celebrations held in Vellore, nearby districts

The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, and Tiruvannamalai districts on Saturday. Collectors and district officials unfurled the tricolour and reviewed the Guard of Honour in each district. In Vellore, Collector P.S. Leela Alex honoured 66 family members of freedom fighters and distributed appreciation certificates to 241 government staff.

Tiruvannamalai's Collector Vandana Garg gave merit certificates to 552 government officers and NGOs representatives. Ranipet's Collector Priya Ravichandran distributed welfare assistance worth ₹1.03 crore to 26 beneficiaries and awarded merit certificates to 388 government employees. Tirupattur's Collector G. Ravikumar gave welfare assistance to 26 beneficiaries and merit certificates to 344 government staff. Around 2,500 police personnel were deployed for security during the celebrations.
