Senator who issued death threat asks supporters to monitor votes in Osun

Osun East Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi has called upon his supporters to diligently monitor the voting process during the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State. While addressing his supporters in Ilesha, Fadahunsi emphasized the importance of ensuring voters elect their desired candidates. In a video statement, he asserted, "Monitor the ballot, don’t let someone else tell you, monitor it. Whosoever does not vote rightly is not a true son of this land," according to the senator.

The remark was made in the wake of Fadahunsi's previous controversy, where he was accused of issuing a death threat against members of the Accord Party in Ilesha. He had warned of potential trouble should Accord Party members be present in the area, stating that his supporters would "kill" them. However, he later clarified that his statement was metaphorical, expressing his desire for his supporters to defeat the Accord Party through lawful and democratic methods during the election.

Through a statement issued by his media office, titled "Kill Osun Accord with Votes, Not Violence, Senator Fadahunsi Tells APC," Fadahunsi clarified that his initial comment was "purely political and metaphorical," serving as a call for supporters to overwhelmingly reject the Accord Party through their votes rather than through physical attacks.
