Trump accuses nonprofit organization of revealing 'top military secrets' in ballroom case

President Donald Trump accused the National Trust for Historic Preservation of revealing "top military secrets" by challenging his White House ballroom project, labeling the group's members as "treasonists" in a post on his Truth Social platform. The Trust, which has not publicly acknowledged the president's claims, previously disputed similar allegations from the White House.

Trump alleged that the nonprofit had been shown detailed plans for the project by senior military and Secret Service officials, despite being warned about the facility's "Top Secret nature." The administration's filing in the Supreme Court describes extensive security features, including bomb shelters, sniper positions, and missile-resistant construction, as part of the integrated structure.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation had sued the administration in December, arguing that construction was proceeding without the necessary congressional authorization and reviews. A federal appeals court had previously blocked aboveground ballroom construction but allowed work on underground security facilities to continue.

The administration requested an emergency stay from the Supreme Court to prevent the injunction from taking effect on August 21, arguing that construction was 65% complete and that stopping work would cause safety, security, and operational issues.
