Selena Gomez Fraud Lawsuit Is ‘Completely Meritless,’ Says Star’s Lawyer

Selena Gomez's legal team has dismissed a recent lawsuit claiming the star defrauded investors in her mental health startup, Wondermind, as "completely meritless, both factually and legally," according to her lawyer Mathew S. Rosengart. The lawsuit, filed by two companies, claims Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, and Wondermind co-founder Daniella Pierson defrauded investors by making false representations about the business, resulting in damages of approximately $1.2 million.

The lawsuit alleges that the trio made false promises of Gomez's involvement in the company's operations, but the partnerships and initiatives never materialized. The alleged management issues and struggles within the company were only uncovered by The Cut last year, after investors had funded the startup for three years. Gomez, Teefey, and Pierson have denied the allegations and are preparing to file a motion to dismiss the claims.
