MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Scottie Scheffler weathered a sluggish start on Saturday, posting a 2-under 68 that put him in a two-shot lead over Sam Burns and Sungjae Im in the FedEx St. Jude Championship. The final round will be critical for all players, as the top 50 advance to the BMW Championship, a prerequisite for securing spots in the $20 million signature events of the 2026 FedEx Cup playoffs.

Scheffler aims to break his recent string of five runner-up finishes and five top 4s, aside from his lone victory this year. He currently stands at 13-under 197, joining his closest friend in golf, Sam Burns, who bettered his performance with a 62. The two haven't been paired together in the final group before. Im, tied with Burns at 11-under 199, could advance to the top 50.

Jordan Spieth, currently at No. 54, faltered, dropping from a tie for fifth to a tie for 19th, likely leaving him out of the top 50. Brian Harman, at No. 65, expressed his desire to be in the top 50, having advanced to all majors last year. Im stressed over each shot, saying, "Every shot matters." Scheffler had only one green in regulation in the first five holes, but he managed to par the 15th hole after a tree hit his shot.

Despite the sweltering heat, Scheffler held his composure, making several crucial 10- to 15-foot saves, which kept his round on track.
