Scottie Scheffler with a 68 builds a two-shot lead over Sam Burns and Sungjae Im in Memphis

Scottie Scheffler carded a 68 in the third round of the St. Jude Championship golf tournament on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee, putting him two shots ahead of Sam Burns and Sungjae Im. The Memphis, Tenn., event saw Scheffler trying to break a five-year streak of only finishing in the top four or runner-up in tournaments, as he stands at 13-under 197 going into the final round.

Burns, long-time friend and compatriot of Scheffler, chipped in with a 62 to join the leader in the final group. This will be the first time the two compete in the final group together. "It's always a little weird," Scheffler remarked, "just because I want him to have success so much and I think he wants the same for me."

Sungjae Im shot a 67, tying with Burns at 11-under 199. The next closest competitors to Scheffler were Tommy Fleetwood and Jake Knapp, both five shots behind. Jordan Spieth, who started with a 65, slipped back to No. 54 in the FedEx Cup standings after a round of 72 that included his first birdie of the tournament on the 11th hole. Spieth's current position of 19th will likely leave him outside the top 50, barring significant improvement, as only the top 50 players advance to the subsequent FedEx Cup playoffs.
